I felt Holy Cross Village was nice and friendly but too spread out for my husband’s physical capabilities. I thought the dining setup was nice, and the staff seems fine, but it was very expensive. Aunt stayed for 2 weeks while primary caregiver was out of town. When family came to pick her up, she was asleep at a table along with another woman. Her glucose level was over 400 – no one had administered her medication nor monitored her diabetes.
Sprenger Health Care of Mishawaka is terrible. They had a lot of clothes missing and stuff. They also had to take him to the emergency room because his catheter wasn’t even hooked up.
It all backed up, and he got a bad infection. It smelled bad pretty much everywhere you go. It was kind of an obtrusive odor of a combination of B.O. The rooms looked like they just needed a good, fresh coat of paint and a little fixture in there, but it looked very rundown on the inside. The outside was gorgeous, but the inside did not look good.
They had a rehab room, outdoor courtyards, and recreational activities. However, it’s an older facility and needs modern updating. My Mom was getting bites on her neck, arms, back and legs for 3 weeks. I complained to the directors and staff that something was biting her. After doing my own investigating I found out there had been 2 cases of bed bugs in the facility. Her mattress was never properly inspected for bed bugs by the directors or staff.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot in the way we provide services. One of the new services we have started is grocery services…. Understaffed, unorganized, billing is always wrong.
Our Enhanced Dining program includes menu-style ordering, offering our residents a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The facility was very well lit, spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly and professional and were very engaged with patients in activities. It was great to see patients smiling and enjoying themselves.
